Female Photography

The most inspirational figure of all times, in photography, is of a woman. Yet female photography has been the root cause of many scandals. Women and their form have fascinated many a famous painters and sculptors including Vinci, Raphael, Picasso, Vermeer etc. Some of the other great pieces of art depicting women include ?Whistler?s Mother? and the ?Venus De Milo?. Photography, which came into existence later, just followed this pattern and brought images to life using depth and colors.

One of the most famous photographs of all times is the face of an Afghan girl on the cover of National Geographic magazine?s 1985 issue. Her name is Sharbat Gula and the photograph of her direct gaze into the camera, intrigued many people for years; Steve McCurry took this photograph. Female Photography can be well divided into various forms like fashion model photography, nude photography, celebrity photography, and self-portraits. Nude photography has got be that one form of photography that has shaped and influenced the perspective of people worldwide.

Photography is an art, which can fill your heart with the joy of having achieved the extraordinary. The most important criteria for becoming a good photographer is to have passion for taking pictures. You should have the ability to feel the intensity in the eyes of a woman, to understand the female form, its delicate nuances, and understand and appreciate the many of moods of woman. Additionally, a dexterous hand at being able to experiment with light and shadows will bring out the depths and tones in your pictures.

There are three very important aspects of photographing women:

Setting the surrounding or the scene: How the photographs really come out depends a lot on the immediate surrounding. The subject?s expressions can also vary with the surrounding. If you are trying to take a photograph in the middle of a bustling street then your subject may also feel the crowd around her and this can easily affect her expressions. On the other hand, a photograph on a secluded waterfront might bring out the best expressions. Creativity plays an important role; the more creative you are regarding the settings, the better the photograph will be.

Lighting Conditions: Lighting conditions are important for getting the best out of a photograph. Too much or too less light can expose the photograph and destroy its effect. The best option is to have a soft bulb light, which works better than a flash. Always remember, to place the light source either on the subjects left side or the right side. This will bring out the details in the face. You can always experiment with the position of the light and even bounce it off the ceiling but never place it in the front, as it will lead to reflection in the photograph. You can also use a soft side light for creating shadows and use a filler flash to light up the face of the model.

Getting it right: Getting the ?perfect? shot during female photography shoot, is a challenging task. Try to use a long lens and take the picture moving away from the subject. You can also use a tripod to get a steady shot. Most of the top-notch female photographers use a small aperture and a long shutter speed. Last but not the least; you need to take as many shots as possible with different expressions so that you can get the perfect shot.

Women are enigmatic and mysterious. Female photography is an ode to this most beautiful creation of God!

Being Black Part II

I'm very upset and disgusted by what a private educated female said on the Channel 4 show. Her quote was Black people are just very bad, always in trouble and is in full support of slavery and wishes it came back, she would definitely have a black slave. I think what she said was a disgrace and only enlighten black people with the knowledge that even in this day and age racism still persists. Black people suffered a hell of a lot through slavery and to think that they are trying to forget about the pass, only to have a bimbo bring it all up? Channel 4 should also know what they are broadcasting, as there are a lot of old people who have witnessed or been through slavery or racism and yet again to have this on national TV and to be brought back up and thrown in there faces! Me personally this just brings back memories of the Stephen Lawrence case and shows justice will never be done. I sincerely hope that something gets done about this because this is really unfair. Since watching the show I feel very insecure in being black and feel as if racism is everywhere its just been hidden.

2007 is the 200th year anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the UK!! 200 years on and this is how people think. We really should be complaining.

On celebrity big brother a supposed racist comment got a hopping 46,000 to complain to OFCOM, an eviction of this excuse for a human being, demonstration all the way to India and Indian MPs in Britain openly condemned the wretch yet only a few days after that event on the same Channel?Another Channel 4 show called Shipwrecked, a private school educated contestant makes statements such as Black people are just very bad, always in trouble and is in full support of slavery and wishes it came back, she would definitely have a black slave and 3 whole days later and OFCOM only receives a mere 460 complaints? Seriously! What does it take FOR black people to stand up for themselves? This silly girl flat out says, she wishes slavery was back and I find people chatting fart about freedom of speech or chatting about how they can't be bothered.

I personally don't give a damn whether she likes me or not As a Black Man, as far as I am concerned she can exercise freedom of speech and use her backside to express it too. My complaint isn't towards her but towards the broadcaster...in this case Channel 4 who felt it appropriate to provide her with a platform to spew her filth.

With freedom of speech comes responsibility of speech and ultimately in this case that responsibility lies with the Broadcasters hence why swear words are bleeped and any sign of negative rude or sexual gestures are blurred and in some cases t-shirts with logos/slogans containing what might be seen as advertising also get blurred...yet Channel 4 (1st) decides to broadcast a racist comment which by the way was filmed six months before the first screening and (2nd), broadcast it at a picked TV viewing hour for children (Sunday 6:25PM) without might I add any warning of the racist content..? Viewers are even warned of flash photography before most shows are aired, yet black parents don't get any warning to protect their children from having to hear hateful words directed at them from some smut???

Also consider...if channel 4 or any other prime time channel would ever allow any fool to say on TV The Holocaust never existed, Jewish people got what they deserved and or wishes for the holocaust to come back?

I think not!!!

Now I want people to get of the freedom of speech mantra or any lame as excuse and complain to OFCOM because our freedom of choice whether to choose to hear hateful words and or protect our children from the same was removed in order to protect hers. This might seem like such a trivial thing to some of you but you let this one go and by the time you start to care, it'll be too little to late.

Do what the Jews did and Indians are doing now and you won't have to worry about that later.

I don't think that it's any secret that the female form or body has been attractive to men for many, many moons. Sexual attraction may be the first thing to come to mind, however the female form is something of a wonder and to many an artist and beholder in general. There are many different forms of artwork paying homage to women including Whistlers Mother, Mona Lisa etc. Today of course we can also achieve greatness in art from the still camera.

Female form photography explained -

Female form photography is almost as it suggests. It is the capturing of the female form image while she poses for photographic purposes. There are many competent photographers today with established photography businesses specializing in different modes of female form photography. These modes include both commercial and artistic strands, often both in one.

Why female form photography?

As indicated earlier, female photography is an evergreen topic of interest for men mostly. But just why is it so popular even after so many centuries?? By now, it seems almost all poses and art expressions of a woman have been captured by the camera. However, it is still in vogue! These are the probable reasons for the sustenance of the female form photography:

- A woman?s body has been a symbol of reverence for men. A woman has always stood for beauty, truth and purity beyond the reach of men. Capturing those delicate moments in a single expression creates ripples in the photography market.

- The next obvious reason for the added interest is the physical attraction that men have for women. Female anatomy photography is a definite yes for them.

- Last but not least is money. Female photography fetches lots of money. Photographers have been known to become wealthy quickly in this arena. As a result, female nude photographs are always in demand.

However, no matter what the reasons are for the photographer, it is the ultimate affect the photograph captures that is important.

Some female form photography tips

Clothes on or no clothes, females have always been a favorite subject of photography. However, it takes talent and perseverance to get the exact expression that would make your photos world famous. If you need some tips about female form photography, then given below are few start ups that would hopefully help you along.

- Find the right model for your photograph!

Getting a subject for your photograph is a tough job for any photographer - especially if your aim is to take intimate photographs. However, if it is simply facial expressions that matter, then even your mother, daughter, wife or sister would do. It is the expression you want right? I?m sure it would be apparent, that if it involves some degree of nudity, then it is better you hire a professional model who would be more comfortable posing.

- Background for stills

The background needs special attention when it comes to photographing female forms. Viewers usually relate better to a serene setting that matches her delicate lines. Usually, the studio is the best place to do the shoot as you can adjust your settings and be in control of lighting. If outdoor shooting is your interest, then you?ll need to be prepared with equipment for highlighting contrasts etc. Hint: A darker background gives better clarity to the female form.

- Lights, Camera, and click?.

The lighting is of paramount vitality if you want your images to be perfect. It is always better to have the lighting focused on the female either from behind or the sides. Directly on the face would have two disadvantages; the light on the face would not capture the perfect expression which angled lighting or background lighting would provide. Moreover, light on the face would make any one uncomfortable and promote squinting!

- Keep your distance!

When you are shooting your model, make sure you are away from her!! Use a variety of lenses. Avoid moving in too close when you are capturing the most detailed moments of her face, keeping some distance will help immensely. It would make her feel comfortable and result in better and more diversified expressions.

Female photography gives you immense scope to show off the talent that you have as a photographer. Well, they say ?There is a woman behind every man?s success?. This clich? can?t be more appropriate than in this sector of photography!!
